My favorite band, Foster the People, had a mural painted in Los Angeles to promote their single “Coming of Age” off their upcoming album Supermodel. I’m hoping Supermodel lives up to their previous album Torches. So far, they haven’t disappointed.
Lorde sure knows how to make you feel unsuccessful. At just 17, this New Zealand singer has shot to fame especially with the release of her album Pure Heroine.
I’m a huge fan of basically her entire album, but I was forced to choose just one for this week’s Music Monday. So here are some other recommendations from her album: Tennis Court, Swingin Party, Ribs, Glory and Gore, and 400 Lux.
You’ve probably already heard their hit single “Pompeii” on the radio, but check out the English band Bastille! I had a really difficult time picking which Bastille song I would post for Music Monday, but I finally settled on their awesome cover of “No Scrubs.” But check out their other songs: “Get Home,” “These Streets,” “Bad Blood,” and “Things We Lost in the Fire.”
This Music Monday is in honor of St. Lucia’s recent release of their debut album, When the Night. Just last week, I saw one-man band St. Lucia perform live as an opener for Two Door Cinema Club. I have to admit I like their music a lot better live, but nonetheless, I still dig their music while I’m mindlessly doing homework and writing papers.
Also, we got to hang out with them for a bit after the show, and they’re pretty cool so I may be a little biased. Great music, great people.
Source: Myself; Casually hanging out with St. Lucia and the other singer of the band.
In an attempt to make Mondays a little more bearable (an almost impossible task), I’ll be dropping some musical goodies every now and then.
In honor of the constant flip-flop of weather we’ve been experiencing, check out the Northern Irish trio, Two Door Cinema Club. Last week, they released their new EP, “Changing of the Seasons.” Check out their new single of the same name!
P.S. You can skip over to about 1:11 on the official music video linked above to get right to the song!
